Region Coding  Back To The Top
Regional coding limits what countries a disc can be used in.
A disc coded for North America (region 1) will not play back on a player sold in Japan (region 2). Right now the world is divided into six regions. A player's region code is set by the manufacturer according to where it will be sold. This disc coding cannot be changed by the consumer. Manufacturers can opt to program a disc to play in any combination of the world's regions.

    Region 1: Canada, U.S., U.S. Territories

Region 2: Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East (including Egypt)

Region 3: Southeast Asia, East Asia (including Hong Kong)

Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, Caribbean

Region 5: Former Soviet Union, Indian Subcontinent, Africa (also North Korea, Mongolia)

    Region 6: China

Please Note: All the DVDs we stock are Region 1 coded. Some DVDs we stock, such as most of the adult titles, are playable in all regions.
If you are not sure of your player's Region Coding, please send us an e-mail and we will try to help.

Aspect Ratio  Back To The Top

Widescreen: Also known as "letterbox", widescreen programs are presented in their original aspect ratio. Black bars will appear at the top and bottom of the TV screen framing the program's rectangular image in the center of the screen, allowing the viewer to see a movie in as close to its original form as possible. Higher and wider aspect ratios result in a smaller image on the TV screen. The most common aspect ratios are 1.85:1 and 2.35:1.

Anamorphic Widescreen/16x9 Enhanced: Selected DVD titles that have been mastered in a special widescreen process so that they may be displayed with extended resolution on newer widescreen television sets. In film terms, 16 x 9 translates to a ratio of 1.77:1. All widescreen TV's have menu functions that allow the viewer to select this option.

Full Frame: Also known as "pan and scan" or "standard". Full Frame programs maintain the 1:33.1 aspect ratio of standard televisions and present the image over the entire area of the TV screen. Programs originally filmed in a widescreen process are altered, usually by removing or "cropping" a portion of the image, commonly referred to as "pan and scan." Quite simply, a technician re-frames the entire movie, one shot at a time, deciding which part of a shot will be visible on the TV screen and which part will be cropped.

The tradeoff for "cropping" the image is a larger picture on the TV screen. Thanks to government regulations, there is usually a disclaimer on the disc jacket or at the start of the program stating: "This movie has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted to fit your TV screen."

Privacy Matters  Back To The Top
Entertainment Warehouse knows that privacy matters. Our firm commitment to privacy guides every decision we make about how, where, and when to collect information. We're constantly striving to improve our site and services. Your shared information helps us make these improvements and offer you a greater selection of special offers and personalized tools.

Earning and keeping your trust is of primary importance to us. We pledge to protect your privacy. Be assured that the information you share with Entertainment Warehouse is kept strictly confidential and fully secure, and that Entertainment Warehouse will never sell, distribute, or otherwise misuse this information.

If you have any questions or concerns about this statement, please Contact Us. Or call us at (905) 607-6177 anytime.

How We Keep Your Information Secured  Back To The Top
Entertainment Warehouse has advanced security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology for the areas of our site where we ask you to provide personally identifiable information. You can tell you've entered one of these areas when you look at the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) in your browser's address bar and see it has "https://" before the rest of the Web address. The "s" means that page is hosted from a secured server. We use secured servers for our Check Out pages as well as all the other pages that are part of processing an order.

SSL allows us to guarantee that the personal information you give us will be transmitted safely because the information is encrypted. Encryption involves systematically scrambling numbers and letters so if someone managed to intercept that packet of information, they would not be able to make sense of it.

Our product and catalog areas are hosted from servers that do not use SSL. Since we do not collect personal information in these areas, using regular servers allows us to provide a quicker shopping experience. Encrypting information, as we do in the "https://" areas, makes the process of sending information across the Internet much slower. Unsecured pages have URLs that begin with "http://".

You may encounter a standard warning that many browsers display when a visitor moves from a "secured" page to an "unsecured" page. Usually, when you encounter such a warning at Entertainment Warehouse, it means that you are moving from an "https://" to an "http://" page.

Our site meets stringent security and privacy standards for both e-commerce and personal information. Providing a secure shopping experience is one of our greatest priorities at Entertainment Warehouse. If you see other browser warnings or error messages concerning the security of our site, please Contact Us. Include the specific wording you saw and where at Entertainment Warehouse you encountered the message. Providing us with these details helps us to know if you've encountered a technical difficulty or a standard warning like the one described above.

Further Protection   Back To The Top
In addition to the above security measures, we further protect your personal and credit card information by NOT keeping the information on a database stored on our server where it can be "hacked" by computer criminals. This is why you are required to provide us with your personal and credit card information for each order.

If you have ordered  from Entertainment Warehouse previously, and are using the same credit card, you may simply enter 'ON FILE' in the credit card number field of the Check Out form. Please indicate which credit card you are using and the actual expiry date.
